Job Description

The Olympic Club , a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks a Barback for our Lakeside Clubhouse . At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy two clubhouses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and five dining outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City. The Olympic Club offers employees free meals daily and golf on Mondays at Lakeside and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year. Position Summary: Reporting to and working closely with the Dining and Banquets Manager and Bartender, the Barback's primary role is to support the bartender to ensure a consistency flow of services to members and guests. Our Barbacks are members of Local 2. Scheduling is by position seniority with shifts assigned based on operational needs. Candidates must have availability to work flexible schedules including day times, evenings, weekends and holidays. Pay rate: $21.81 per hour Essential functions and responsibilities: Job duties are including but not limited to: Set up and breakdown bars for banquets. Stock bars: Ensure banquet bars are fully stocked according to setup sheets 30 minutes prior to the event start time. Glassware Garnish Liquor, beer, wine, mixers, etc. Ensure white wine is in walk-in 48 hours prior to the banquet. Stock liquor cabinets on 2F. Equipment/supplies Ice Bar Breakdown: Remove all items besides juices and mixers and store them in their proper place (i.e., storage rooms/cabinets, refrigerators, etc.). Ensure bars are clean and organized for the next event set up. Prep specialty drinks. This includes but is not limited to the following: Batch cocktails & mixes. Prep necessary garnishes. Ensure proper glassware or equipment is stocked. Maintain clean work areas. This includes but is not limited to the following: Ensure bars are up to safety & cleanliness standards. Deep-clean the Main Bar Champions Bar, and Portable Bars regularly in accordance with the Manager on Duty checklists. Ensure all equipment is stored properly and maintained. Ensure ingredients, mixers, etc. are safely stored and labelled. Glassware Storage: Keep all glassware storage areas organized and always stocked (i.e., main bar, kitchen, champions bar). Glass racks are sorted and clean. The wheelbases are clean. Glassware is polished. Take glassware inventory to ensure proper par levels. Non-Essential functions and responsibilities: Other reasonable, work-related duties as assigned by a manager. This includes but is not limited to the following: Replace beer kegs/soda/Co2 as needed. Break bartender as needed. Attend TIPS training when provided by management. Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated members/guests. Attend pre-shift or other work-related meetings as scheduled. This position requires regular, ongoing communication, coordination and collaboration with the Clubhouse management team and staff including status updates on assignments, projects, and progress towards established goals/objectives. Qualifications Required: Must have 2-3 years previous bussing experience in a busy fine dining restaurant, hotel, club, or similar outlet. Must have excellent customer service skills. Be willing to work a flexible schedule. Basic English communication skills required. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Work independently and have attention to detail. Qualifications Desired: Previous experience working with Unions. Highly organized Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. Enthusiastic about service Works well with a diverse group of employees. Self-motivated, takes initiative in finding and presenting solutions.
