DescriptionFLSA Employment Status: Nonexempt/Hourly JOB SUMMARY Will provide clean, sanitary comfortable, orderly and satisfying surroundings for the patients, residents, employees, and public. Responsible for sustaining a sterile environment in all areas of the hospital by cleaning rooms, making beds, replenishing linens and maintaining floors. Work ExperienceOn-the-job training required.Some experience working in a commercial housekeeping environment preferred. Cleans patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas and public restrooms. Uses various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, cleans equipment and furniture, vacuums carpet and mops floors.Makes beds, empty trash and restocks supplies.Collects dirty laundry from all patient areas and distributes the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate floors.Uses cleaning supplies and equipmentTakes daily inventory as well as inspects and reports equipment for any repairs or replacements.Ensures the proper infection-control policies are being followed.Promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors.Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood in accordance with the HMC standards.OTHER DUTIES May attend in-service training.Will cross train in nursing home and hospital housekeeping duties.Adheres to the clocking in and clocking out procedures.Manages all time and keep all breaks to the required times.Performs other required duties and special projects as required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position demands good physical and mental health.
