Ready to take your engineering career to new heights? Join our team at Collins Aerospace onsite in Fairfield, CA, as a Manufacturing Engineer . In this pivotal role, you'll be contributing to the fabrication of egress parts and assemblies for our customers. And you will plan a sequence of manufacturing processes and assembly operations, maintain the bill of materials, and create and maintain all required manufacturing documents. This position allows you to apply your knowledge and experience of tooling and manufacturing methods and techniques, providing direct support to operations personnel.

What You Will Do

  • You will work onsite in Fairfield, CA, sitting on the production floor.
  • \n
  • Plan manufacturing operations, develop and maintain associated manufacturing documents, standard work and work instructions.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with Design Engineering for producibility improvements and design changes. Understand product designs and can identify & suggest changes.
  • \n
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem-solving to improve production-related issues. Responsible for implementing corrective action or countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
  • \n
  • Use advanced data analytic tools, metrics and trends, to identify systemic gaps, driving solutions through the use of RCA tools, in order to improve key performance indicators (e.g., FPY, Defects, OEE, Customer escapes, etc.).
  • \n
  • Seek new solutions to improve producibility and process capability, using and driving lean techniques to improve cost and quality metrics
  • \n
  • Help drive smart factory solutions and other engineering techniques to strengthen process capability.
  • \n
  • Co-Lead continuous improvement events and efforts in targeting specific items such as: reducing DTM's, Cost Reduction, eliminating EHS risk, mistake proofing, adjustment and variation elimination, etc.
  • \n
  • Interface and work with Production Operators, Design, Quality & other Manufacturing Engineers to solve problems, improve manufacturability of products and ensure products are manufactured in compliance with drawings and specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have
    \n
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • \n
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) access.
  • \n
  • Previous experience directly supporting a manufacturing line
  • \n
  • CAD experience (Computer Aided Design)
  • \n

Qualifications We Prefer
    \n
  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degrees are desired as they are the only degrees that provide a pathway to a potential future MRB Engineer role.
  • \n
  • Prior experience or exposure to the metal fabrication processes (fusion welding, heat treat, vacuum brazing, 5-axis machining, especially with titanium and Inconel materials or aluminum honeycomb).
  • \n
  • Experience with MRP system for BOM and production planning management, SAP preferred.
  • \n
  • Experience in application of Lean, through Continuous Improvement events.
  • \n
  • Experience with data analysis tools to be used in capability studies and problem solving and the ability to understand 3D model-based definition and knowledge of GD&T.

The salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 144,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
